Modi’s Cabinet Is Doing A Lot Of Good Work, best answer to Critic's

When Narendra Modi stormed into power in 2014 by winning Lok Sabha election with a massive mandate, he delivered a strong message: “We are not here for any positions but for a responsibility”. Though some may say that the Modi Sarkar has failed to deliver on what it has promised, there are few things that are hard to ignore even by his strongest critics and opponents: like his style of governing has resulted in more foreign direct investment, improved global relations, removal of bottle-necks for doing business, corruption free governance, direct subsidy payments, coal and telecom auctions, and much more. In the wake of recent spate of events, including the rising intolerance debate and the Opposition calling the Centre an all talks and no action government, take a look at below examples that show how Modi’s ministers are fairing: Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New, and Renewable Energy thehindu He recently launche...

Investors inclined towards a BJP win in 2014 election: CLSA

CLSA highlighted a wave in favour of Narendra Modi as one of the probable reasons for BJP winning 202 seats in the 2014 election. Photo: Mint New Delhi:  Opinion polls may be unreliable, but the markets favour the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Congress party-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government to win next year’s general elections, Hong Kong-based securities house CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets said on Monday. “It is clear that the market favours one outcome over another. It is their right to do that,”  Christopher Wood , equity strategist at CLSA, told reporters at the CLSA India Forum in New Delhi. The brokerage, in a presentation, also projected the state-wise performance of BJP and the probable reasons for it securing 202 seats in the 2014 election: a wave in favour of the party’s prime ministerial candidate  Narendra Modi ; the appeal of Modi to urban voters; anti-incumbency; polarization; and the strong performance of BJP st...

'Rupee in ICU, why did Tamils send Chidambaram to Delhi,' asks Narendra Modi in Chennai

Narendra Modi, who was delivering the Nani Palkhiwala memorial lecture in Chennai on Friday evening, did not take very long to get into election mode, ripping once again into the UPA government and particularly targeting the Prime Minister and select ministers. Without a strong economy, he said, the world would not "get attracted" to India. "Today our rupee is in ICU, I don't know why Tamil people sent this person to Delhi," referring to Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who belongs to Tamil Nadu and is also a Lok Sabha MP from the state. The BJP's presumptive prime minister also launched a sharp attack on the Centre's foreign policy. He said the government was making a mockery of itself with its handling of relations with Pakistan and China, drawing context from the launch of a book by Arun Shourie on India's relationship with China. "Our foreign minister goes to China and says he wants to stay on in Beijing... I wish such people sta...

Nomura: BJP government with Narendra Modi at helm will be good for markets

NEW DELHI: Given BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's track record of an impressive performance on the economic front, a  BJP  government at the centre in 2014 will be good for market sentiment, believes Alastair Newton, Senior Political Analyst at  Nomura . However, Newton admitted to the problems of a coalition government in India, stating that it is difficult to push structural reforms. "The caste-based and regional interests of some parties serve as a hindrance," he opined. In an interview with ET Now, Newton said that the state elections will be a litmus test for all political parties, especially the BJP. "The state elections results will be important to BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi," Newton said. "A good solid performance by BJP will help give them a good platform to move forward to general elections," he opined. According to Newton, BJP is likely to retain its governments in the states of Chhatti...
